How Fear Makes Death Powerful

In every religion in every time period throughout human history we have sought to understand what happens when we die. Ancient man watched as other animals suffered and expired on a constant basis. It wasn’t until we reached a level of conscious thought that we began to understand what death really meant. And with that understanding we developed fear. How Fear Makes Death Powerful ? Our fear led to the formation of religions and worship of higher beings. These religions and deity worship created a new way for us to deal with the pain of death and its many forms. But now that we are growing into a new way of thinking we are deviating from the idea that a god has something to do with death. So we find ourselves in the same position as ancient man. But this leaves us with a question how does fear take on such powerful control over our minds?

Fear is an emotion almost every one of us will feel in some way or another. Some let this fear take control over their lives, like those who suffer from anxiety disorders or PTSD. But the question comes to light, is this fear that drives us to act irrational play the same role when we think of our own death? Is it fear that causes people to put off important things like writing a will or purchasing life insurance? The answer truly is yes. This same fear drives our everyday actions but at the same time can take control over our lives.

We can make our lives more fulfilling if we realize that regardless of what happens after we die we can be rest assured it is peaceful. There can be no doubt that the worst part of death comes before it, while we are alive. The fear of the unknown and what could happen has the potential to bring even the strongest person to a quivering mess. It is misplaced in its power because it causes the person who experiences it feel as though they have some control over whether they live or die. What must be realized is that while death seems frightening it is simply a part of the life cycle, and until we can figure a way around this we are destined to experience it. This is not necessarily a bad thing and shouldn’t be feared because there is little that can be done to avoid it. Instead we should focus on what we can accomplish while we are living. This will force fear to give us its power, and we will be happy to once again control how we feel.
